Growing Together with Ruby and Rich -
Today, the sun finally came out after many humid days.
Without wasting a minute, I carried all of Ruby and Rich's beds and cushions outside to dry in the sunshine.
Seeing everything under the bright summer sky made me smile.
Ruby and Rich are now shedding their fur, so I brush them almost every day after our walks.
Their coats stay clean, especially Ruby's beautiful white fur.
Ruby has always been a funny girl.
Many dogs happily step into puddles, but Ruby carefully walks around them.
She always chooses the cleanest path.
Sometimes, I think she behaves more like a cat than a dog.
Both Ruby and Rich are also very polite at home.
They have never jumped onto my sofa or bed.
They don't dig up my vegetable garden or break flower pots.
Most of the time, they quietly lie on the floor or rest on their own beds.
When the weather is nice, they simply enjoy spending time in the yard.
People often tell me,
"Your dogs are so well-behaved."
I smile whenever I hear that.
But honestly, it wasn't always easy.
Taking care of two large Jindo mix dogs is a big responsibility.
There were times when they tested my patience.
Whenever that happened, I quietly whispered,
"If you don't behave well, I won't be able to take care of you."
I wasn't trying to scare them.
I was simply telling them my honest heart.
Maybe...
they understood.
This morning, Rich reminded me of that again.
He loves exploring new places, just like me.
Recently, we have walked to a small valley several times, and he wanted to go there again today.
But thick fog covered the valley, and I felt it wasn't safe.
Rich pulled hard on the leash.
Honestly, if we competed with strength, he would easily win.
Still, I held the leash firmly and said,
"No."
After a moment, he stopped pulling.
He looked at me and quietly followed.
At that moment, I didn't feel stronger than him.
I simply felt trusted.
Ruby and Rich are ten years old now.
They are entering their senior years.
I know there may be new challenges ahead.
Of course, I prepare my heart for that.
But I don't want to spend today worrying about tomorrow.
We have already overcome many things together.
I believe we can overcome whatever comes next, one day at a time.
As long as I stay healthy, I will continue walking beside them until the day they cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Sometimes, responsibility feels heavy.
But responsibility also gives me a reason to stay healthy.
It gives me a reason to wake up early, go for walks, keep moving, and take better care of myself.
People often think I am taking care of Ruby and Rich.
But sometimes I wonder if they are taking care of me, too.
Maybe that is what living together really means.
Not one life carrying another.
But walking side by side for as long as we can.
Today, as I looked at their beds drying under the warm sunshine, I smiled.
Yes... I'm still a lucky Angie.
Today's Verdict
Sometimes, the responsibilities we carry become the very reason we stay strong.
KR Summary
"Yes... I'm still a lucky Angie." 🌿🐕🐕
