Golf is sometimes funny.
The best memories are not always made by perfect shots.
Sometimes, they come from a small joke between friends.
One day, during a round of golf, PD hit his driver shot and his tee disappeared into the bushes.
He looked at the bushes and said with a serious face,
“Ah… next time, I should bring a 5 million won pure gold tee.”
I couldn't miss that opportunity.
I smiled and said,
“Then that tee will disappear after just one shot.”
PD looked at me.
“Why?”
I answered,
“Because I will take it. ㅎㅎ”
For a moment, there was silence.
Then PD laughed and said,
“It's okay if Teacher Angie takes it. ㅎㅎ”
We both laughed out loud.
Of course, nobody was thinking about a 5 million won tee.
It was never about the tee.
It was about the joy of sharing a silly joke on a beautiful golf course.
As we get older, I think we realize something.
A good friend is not someone who only talks about serious things.
A good friend is someone who can laugh with you about something completely meaningless.
A lost tee in the bushes became a memory.
A simple joke became a story.
Maybe this is one of the reasons I love golf.
Golf gives us a chance to meet people, walk together, talk, laugh, and create small moments that stay with us.
The most expensive tee shot I never played was not expensive because of the tee.
It was valuable because of the laughter we shared.

골프를 하다 보면 이상하게 기억에 오래 남는 순간들이 있다.
완벽한 드라이버샷도 아니고, 멋진 버디도 아니다.
가끔은 라운딩 중에 나눈 작은 농담 하나가 오래 기억에 남는다.
어느 날, PD님이 드라이버샷을 하고 난 뒤 티가 덤불 속으로 사라졌다.
티를 찾다가 PD님이 갑자기 진지한 표정으로 말했다.
“에구… 다음에는 500만원짜리 순금 티를 만들어 와야겠네.”
그 순간 나는 그냥 지나칠 수 없었다. ㅎㅎ
그래서 바로 말했다.
“그러면 그 티는 티샷 한 번 하고 없어질 거예요.”
PD님이 물었다.
“왜?”
나는 웃으면서 대답했다.
“제가 훔쳐갈 거니까요. ㅎㅎ”
잠시 조용해졌다.
그리고 PD님이 웃으면서 말했다.
“엔지 사부님이 가져가면 괜찮아요. ㅎㅎ”
우리는 한참을 웃었다.
물론 누구도 진짜 500만원짜리 티를 생각한 것은 아니다.
중요한 것은 티가 아니었다.
그 순간 함께 웃을 수 있는 친구가 있다는 것이었다.
나이가 들수록 알게 되는 것 같다.
좋은 친구는 항상 진지한 이야기만 나누는 사람이 아니다.
아무 의미 없는 농담에도 함께 웃어줄 수 있는 사람이 좋은 친구다.
덤불 속으로 사라진 작은 티 하나가 추억이 되고,
짧은 농담 하나가 오래 남는 이야기가 된다.
아마 내가 골프를 좋아하는 이유도 이런 순간들 때문인지 모른다.
골프는 우리에게 좋은 샷만 주는 것이 아니다.
함께 걷고,
이야기하고,
웃고,
작은 순간들을 추억으로 만들어 준다.
내가 치지 못했던 가장 비싼 티샷.
그 티가 비쌌던 이유는 가격 때문이 아니었다.
그 순간 함께 웃었던 시간이 값졌기 때문이다.
