One Swing Philosophy — What Golf Taught Me About Life

Yesterday, I played nine holes with five gentlemen, and somehow, I was the youngest in the group. Yes, even after turning 60, I can still be the youngest! 😊 We had two groups playing that day. Originally, I was supposed to play in the second group with PD, but when I arrived, I noticed that most of the members of the first group were already there. The band leader still had his golf bag in the second group, so I asked, “Are you not putting your bag in the first group?” He simply told me, “You decide.” So I did. Honestly, I wanted to play with PD. But then I thought about the two gentlemen in the first group. They might have a little more fun if I joined them. So I moved my golf bag to the first group. And as soon as I arrived at the first tee, one of the gentlemen handed me a cup of coffee. “Here, have some.” Well… I guess I made the right decision. ☕😊 There were six of us in total, and I was the only woman. These days, I find myself playing golf with this small group at least twice a month. If we include our 9-hole games, I sometimes see them almost once a week. I didn't plan it this way at first. Actually, when I first joined the group, I thought they were a little too loud and playful for me. I wondered, “Hmm… I wonder if I really fit in with these people.” 😂 But the more I got to know them, the more I realized something. They may joke around a lot, but they are all serious about golf. Most of us are in our early 60s, give or take a few years. We are at similar stages of life, and we have a similar love of golf. More importantly, they are good people. They have good manners. They look out for each other. Sometimes, when we run into each other at the driving range, someone will even offer me a cup of coffee. Those little things mean more to me than they might realize.
