How My Garden Just Got Bigger ๐ฟ- ๋ง๋น์ ํ์๋ฅผ ๋ํ ๋ ^^
This morning, I made my garden bigger.
Well… not really. ๐
I didn’t buy any more land.
I didn’t move the fence.
I simply cleaned up my very full summer garden.
All summer long, one corner of my garden had been almost completely covered with flowers.
There was a big salvia bush, almost as tall as I am, covered with beautiful blue flowers.
Other flowers had also grown wildly, filling the garden with colorful blooms throughout the hot summer.
I loved looking at them.
They gave me so much happiness during those long, hot months.
But underneath all those flowers, something else was happening.
My little chrysanthemums were struggling to survive.
They were hiding underneath the big plants, almost as if they were saying,
“Please save me!” ๐
So today, I decided it was time to make some room.
I started cutting.
And cutting.
And cutting.
I also pulled out the weeds that had quietly grown underneath everything.
Of course, I wasn't alone.
The mosquitoes were there, too.
They seemed very excited about my gardening project and came after me from every direction. ๐ฆ๐
So while I was cleaning my garden, I was also fighting a small mosquito war.
By the time I finished, I was sweaty, dusty, and had several new mosquito bites.
But then I stepped back and looked at my garden.
And suddenly…
Was my garden always this big? ๐
Apparently, it was.
The summer flowers had simply been hiding it.
After I cut everything back, I could finally see the shape of my garden again.
And somehow, it felt bigger.
There is another part of my garden that makes me especially happy these days.
My little vegetable garden.
Originally, I was going to make the whole area a flower garden.
But I changed one side into a small vegetable garden instead.
And I think that was a very good decision.
Of course, growing vegetables means I can eventually eat what I grow.
That's wonderful.
But honestly, I think watching them grow makes me feel healthier than eating them. ๐ฑ
Right now, the vegetables are still tiny.
Just little green sprouts poking their heads out of the soil.
But every time I walk past them, I stop and look.
“Hmm… you're a little bigger than yesterday.”
I don't know why, but seeing those tiny plants grow makes me happy.
Sometimes I think they are saying,
“Don't worry. We'll make it through the winter.”
Of course, they aren't actually talking to me.
But I like to imagine that they are. ๐
So I gently sprinkle some organic fertilizer around them.
Then I give them a nice, cool drink of water.
And I look at them again.
That little moment is enough to make my heart feel healthier.
Maybe this is one of the funny things about growing a garden.
We don't always grow things just to eat them.
Sometimes, we grow them so we can watch them grow.
And someday, yes, I'll eat them, too. ๐
That's what makes my little vegetable garden so much fun.
I get to grow them, watch them grow, and eventually eat them.
That's a pretty good deal.
Autumn is also my golf season, so I'll still be going out to play golf whenever I can.
But I don't need to go far to enjoy autumn.
My own garden gives me plenty to look forward to.
On one side, there is my little vegetable garden.
On the other side, there are flowers and pots.
And soon, those little chrysanthemums will hopefully burst into yellow flowers.
I can already imagine their color.
Their fragrance.
And maybe one day, I'll pick a few flowers and make a little chrysanthemum tea.
That future happiness makes today's work feel surprisingly enjoyable.
This is the funny thing about gardening.
The hard work comes first.
The happiness comes later.
You sweat.
You get dusty.
You pull weeds.
You fight mosquitoes.
And sometimes you wonder why you are doing all this. ๐
But then you imagine what is coming.
Tiny vegetables growing through the winter.
Yellow chrysanthemums blooming in autumn.
A cup of chrysanthemum tea.
And a garden that changes with every season.
Suddenly, the work doesn't feel so hard.
The hard work is temporary.
The happiness can last much longer.
Maybe that's why I don't mind the work.
I'm not just cleaning my garden.
I'm making room for the next season.
And perhaps that's what I really did today.
I didn't make my garden bigger.
I simply made more room for happiness. ๐ฟ
And now I'm sitting at my laptop, enjoying this cool autumn air…
while putting medicine on my mosquito bites. ๐๐ฆ
Well…
Even a happy garden has a little price to pay.
And honestly?
I think it's worth it. ๐ฑ๐ผ
