I recently played at Plaza CC in Jeju,
a course with a uniquely shared fairway and two greens.
On the front nine, you play from the left tee to the right green.
On the back nine, everything switches.
처음 경험하는 구조라 더 기대가 컸다.
A Round That Almost Didn’t Happen
That morning, the course was covered in heavy fog.
Most groups were canceling and heading back.
“Play if you want.”
That was the situation.
멀리까지 왔기에 쉽게 포기할 수 없었고,
다행히 우리 팀은 모두 플레이를 선택했다.
The Front Nine — Less Vision, Better Golf
Something unexpected happened.
My shots were more stable.
My rhythm felt natural.
The results were better.
No overthinking.
No distractions.
Just one thing at a time.
안개 속에서는
생각이 단순해지고, 스윙에만 집중하게 된다.
The Back Nine — More Vision, Less Focus
By the back nine, the fog cleared.
The course opened up beautifully.
Bright sky, perfect grass, wide fairways.
기분은 더 좋아졌지만,
아이러니하게도 결과는 전반보다 흔들렸다.
Now I could see everything:
Distances. Hazards. Angles. Strategy.
Too much information.
보이는 것이 많아질수록,
집중은 자연스럽게 분산된다.
What I Realized
One thing became clear:
The more you see, the less you focus.
The less you see, the deeper you concentrate.
단순할수록 더 강해진다.
Create Your Own Fog
From now on, I’ll keep it simple:
- One thought per shot
- Trust the rhythm
- Ignore unnecessary details

This might be one of the most effective ways
to actually lower your handicap.
