One Swing Philosophy — What Golf Taught Me About Life

I have been watching more golf on TV lately, and I kept seeing two names: PGA TOUR and DP World Tour. I knew the PGA TOUR, of course. But the DP World Tour kept appearing on my screen, and I started wondering: What exactly is the DP World Tour? And why do I sometimes see the same players on both tours? So I looked into it. Two Different Tours The PGA TOUR is the major men's professional golf tour based in the United States. The DP World Tour is the tour formerly known as the European Tour. It is based in Europe but now travels around the world. So, in the simplest terms: PGA TOUR = U.S.-based DP World Tour = Europe-based and global They are separate tours, but they are not completely disconnected. That is the part I found interesting. And Then There Is the Money The difference becomes even clearer when we look at prize money. The PGA TOUR has a much larger overall prize-money pool. In 2026, the PGA TOUR's regular-season prize money is around $474 million , while the DP World...

Austin Smotherman’s 100th PGA TOUR Start — and His First Win Today, I happened to watch the final round of the Bank of Utah Championship live. At first, I was just going to watch a little golf. But as the round went on, I became more interested. Before I knew it, I was watching one player very closely. Austin Smotherman. Then I found out something that made the moment even more special. Today was his 100th career start on the PGA TOUR. And even more amazingly, it was his first PGA TOUR victory. What a moment. His First Win Came on His 100th Start Smotherman opened the tournament with a 63. Then he shot an incredible 62 in the second round . He followed that with a 65 in the third round and a 68 in the final round. His final score was 26-under 258 , two shots ahead of Doug Ghim. But the final round was not perfect. He made a double bogey on the 13th hole, and his lead became much smaller. That could have changed everything. Instead, he made a birdie on the very next hole. Then another ...

16 Years After Korea’s Last Men’s Individual Golf Gold I love golf, so I naturally pay attention when golf becomes part of a big international event. And this time, there was some very good news. Tom Kim, also known as Kim Joo-hyung, won the gold medal in the men’s individual golf event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. He played the final round at Kasugai Country Club in Japan on October 3. He shot a 6-under 64 and finished at 18-under 262 for the tournament. He won by three strokes. It was also an important moment for Korean men’s golf. Korea had not won the men’s individual golf gold medal at the Asian Games since Kim Min-hwi won in 2010. That means it had been 16 years . A Message From Tiger Woods There was another interesting story before the final round. Tom Kim received a message from Tiger Woods . The message was very simple: “Just be you. Nothing more, nothing less.” I like this sentence. Maybe because it sounds so simple. But golf is not always simple. When we play, we ...

A few days ago, I thought, “Okay. The PGA season must be pretty much over now.” For me, the Tour Championship felt like the end of the PGA season. But today, I turned on the TV. And there it was. More PGA golf. “Wait… it’s still going on?” I have watched golf for quite a long time, but I honestly wondered why. So I looked it up. And then I discovered something I didn’t know. The FedExCup Fall. The Tour Championship Is Over. So What Comes Next? The main PGA TOUR season moves through the Regular Season, the FedExCup Playoffs, and finally the Tour Championship. The FedExCup champion is crowned at the Tour Championship. So it is easy to think, “Okay, that’s it. The PGA season is over.” But it isn’t. There is another part of the season: the FedExCup Fall. In 2026, there are seven official PGA TOUR events in the FedExCup Fall. These events give players an opportunity to improve their priority ranking and secure additional playing opportunities for the 2027 season. 🍂 The 2026 FedExCup Fall ...
