One Swing Philosophy — What Golf Taught Me About Life

Thank Goodness I'm Not a Professional Golfer! Golf can drive you crazy. I really mean it. Today, I followed the final round of the Aramco Korea Championship. I was especially interested in two Korean players I like, Sung Hyun Park and Hyo Joo Kim. Unfortunately, they were hardly shown on TV. So, in the afternoon, I went to bed and enjoyed a good nap. (Smile) But when I saw the final results, I had several things to think about. Miyu Yamashita won the tournament with an amazing score of 22 under par. Hyo Joo Kim played a wonderful final round, shooting six under par. She finished at 13 under par and tied for seventh place. Sung Hyun Park finished at 10 under par. Although she did not win, she gave her fans some exciting moments to remember. She made an eagle on the 17th hole, a par-five, in both the second and third rounds! Yesterday, I wrote a little post wishing Sung Hyun Park a good week at the Aramco Korea Championship. And today, she gave me a very good reason to smile. She finished the first round at 4-under, 68 , with four birdies and no bogeys, putting her in tied 5th place . I was hoping for a Top 10 finish. Now, I am quietly hoping for a little more. 😊 There are still three rounds to go, so anything can happen. I just hope Sung Hyun Park keeps playing her own game, one shot at a time. One more good round tomorrow. That is all I am wishing for. I have always thought Sung Hyun Park was a special golfer. There is something about her that is hard to explain. Maybe it is her powerful swing. Maybe it is the way she walks onto the tee. Or maybe it is simply the quiet confidence she carries with her. She has a kind of charisma that naturally draws people in. There was a time when Sung Hyun Park seemed almost unstoppable. She won seven times on the KLPGA Tour in 2016. Then, in her first full LPGA season in 2017, she won the U.S. Women's Open, became Rookie of the Year, and shared the Player of the Year award.
