When I Stopped Chasing My Swing -
There was a time when I practiced golf almost every day.
Five times a week at the driving range, always trying to fix something.
Grip.
Angle.
Timing.
Impact.
I believed that if I worked hard enough,
I could control my swing — and maybe even control my game.
But strangely,
the more I tried to control it,
the more complicated it became.
—
I don’t go to the driving range as often anymore.
Maybe once a week. Sometimes less.
Instead of pushing myself,
I let my swing come out naturally.
And something unexpected happened.
My swing became more comfortable.
My impact feels lighter.
And my distance… is still there.
—
It made me realize something simple.
Maybe golf was never about forcing improvement.
Maybe it was about removing what was unnecessary.
—
These days, my goal is different.
I don’t want to practice more.
I don’t want to hit longer.
I just want to maintain this condition
for as long as possible.
That’s enough.
—
Of course, I still think about the 70s.
But not in the way I used to.
I don’t chase it anymore.
Because I’ve noticed something.
When I try to reach the 70s,
I lose my rhythm.
But when I stay relaxed,
play within myself,
and don’t force anything…
sometimes,
the 70s just appear.
—
These days, golf feels a little different.
But I’m okay with that.
Because instead of excitement,
I’ve found something quieter.
Stability.
Gratitude.
And a deeper kind of enjoyment.
—
I realized I don’t need to chase golf anymore.
I just need to be there,
swing freely,
and let the game come to me.
And maybe that’s enough.
For now.
