The Day I Kept Coming Back for Ruby.

Yesterday, I experienced something that felt like a real miracle with Ruby.

Early in the morning, around 5 AM, I was walking with my dogs as usual after a night of heavy rain. The path was wet and slippery, and for a brief moment, I sensed a little danger when my dogs walked near the large grass and bushes beside the cliff path.

But I ignored the feeling.

My dogs know that trail very well, so I did not think too much about it.

A few minutes later, I suddenly realized Ruby had disappeared.

At first, everything was strangely quiet.
The sky was still dark, the ocean wind was strong, and I started calling her name over and over again with growing fear.

Then I finally heard it.

Ruby barked loudly from far below.

When I looked down, I found her trapped on a large rock area near the ocean beneath a cliff nearly 15 meters high. Huge waves were crashing nearby, and there was no path for her to climb back.

At that moment, my heart dropped.

I immediately called 119. Rescue workers arrived quickly, along with a rescue ship, but the wind and waves were too dangerous. For hours, nobody could safely reach Ruby.

I went back home briefly to bring Rich safely back, then returned again as fast as I could. I kept thinking of different ways to save Ruby and continued speaking with the rescue team.

And then something beautiful happened.

As the morning became brighter, many tourists and people nearby started watching the rescue effort. Some were Korean, some were Chinese tourists, but many of them stayed and encouraged the rescuers — and me.

Their kindness gave me strength.

Even though we were strangers, everyone shared the same hope:
“Please save Ruby safely.”

Finally, after almost five hours, the rescue team returned with divers and successfully rescued her.

And the biggest miracle of all?

Ruby was almost completely unharmed.

After visiting the vet, she only needed two shots and some medicine.

Yesterday felt like watching a movie inside real life.
It reminded me how mysterious life can be sometimes.

There are moments when everything could go wrong —
yet somehow, grace still appears.
