A New Path, A Better Round - 새로운 길, 더 좋은 라운드

Today, I woke up at 5:00 as usual.

I took my two dogs for a walk and decided to try a different route. I have always loved exploring new paths, but walking with my dogs makes me more careful. I never know if a new route will be safe. There could be dogs guarding their homes, stray dogs wandering around, or other unexpected surprises. So we usually follow the same familiar path.

This morning, however, I trusted my curiosity.

We discovered a quiet stream hidden above Jeongbang Waterfall. My two dogs immediately forgot about the familiar route. They happily wandered from one patch of grass to another, stopping every few steps to sniff new scents. Watching them explore reminded me that the joy isn't only in reaching a destination—it's in discovering something we didn't know was there.

And that's exactly why I love golf.

Every round feels like walking a new path. Even on the same course, nothing is ever quite the same. The wind changes. The lie changes. My swing changes. Every shot asks a new question.

I've always loved challenges. Maybe that's why golf captured my heart so completely. It never promises certainty. Instead, it rewards curiosity, patience, and the courage to try something different.

This morning, two curious dogs reminded me of something simple.

Sometimes the best discoveries begin with one small decision to leave the familiar path.

Maybe that's why I love golf even more.

Because every round is another invitation to explore.

새로운 길, 더 좋은 라운드

오늘도 평소처럼 새벽 5시에 일어났습니다.

두 마리 반려견과 산책을 하면서 평소와는 다른 길을 선택했습니다. 원래 저는 새로운 길을 좋아하지만, 강아지들과 함께 걷다 보면 혹시 모를 위험 때문에 늘 익숙한 길을 걷게 됩니다. 집을 지키는 강아지나 떠돌이 개를 만날 수도 있으니까요.

하지만 오늘은 조금 다른 선택을 했습니다.

정방폭포 위쪽의 조용한 물길을 따라 걷게 되었고, 아이들은 처음 맡는 냄새를 따라 이곳저곳을 신나게 탐험했습니다. 그 모습을 보며 깨달았습니다.

새로운 길은 목적지가 아니라, 새로운 경험을 선물해 준다는 것을.

그 순간 자연스럽게 골프가 떠올랐습니다.

골프도 늘 새로운 길을 걷는 것과 같습니다. 같은 코스를 돌아도 바람이 다르고, 라이가 다르고, 스윙도 매번 다릅니다. 매 샷은 새로운 질문을 던지고, 우리는 그 답을 찾아갑니다.

저는 원래 도전하는 것을 좋아합니다.

그래서 골프를 더 사랑하는지도 모르겠습니다.

골프는 익숙함에 머물게 하지 않습니다. 늘 새로운 상황을 만나게 하고, 그 안에서 배우고, 적응하고, 조금씩 성장하게 만듭니다.

오늘 아침, 두 마리 반려견은 제게 아주 단순한 진리를 다시 알려주었습니다.

가끔은 익숙한 길을 벗어나야 더 아름다운 풍경을 만날 수 있다는 것.

그리고 아마도…

그래서 저는 골프를 더 사랑합니다.

골프는 매 라운드마다 새로운 길을 걸어볼 용기를 선물해 주니까요.
