2026 PGA TOUR Championship: Field of 30 Set for $40M Season Finale at East Lake! (August 27–30)
The stage is set for the final event of the 2026 PGA TOUR season!
After the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club, the final 30 players for the 2026 TOUR Championship have been decided.
They will head to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, from August 27–30 for the ultimate showdown of the FedExCup season.
And this year's finale is especially interesting because the format has changed.

For Korean golf fans, there is another reason to watch East Lake.
Two Korean players made the final field:
No. 5 Si Woo Kim — 2,729 points
No. 29 Tom Kim — 1,378 points
Si Woo Kim's fifth-place position is particularly impressive.
After a long PGA TOUR season, finishing fifth in the FedExCup standings means he enters the season finale among the very best 30 players in the world of PGA TOUR golf.
And Tom Kim also managed to hold on to the final stage at No. 29.
Two Koreans.
One final tournament.

🔄 A New TOUR Championship Format
This year's TOUR Championship is different from previous years.
All 30 players will begin the tournament at even par (0).
There will be no starting-strokes advantage based on FedExCup ranking.
Instead, all 30 players will compete over 72 holes of traditional stroke play, and the player with the lowest total score will become the 2026 FedExCup Champion.
That means Scottie Scheffler may arrive at East Lake as the No. 1 player in the FedExCup standings, but he will not receive a head start.
Everyone starts from the same place.
**Zero.
Even par.
A clean slate.**
That makes this year's finale especially exciting.
💰 $40 Million Is on the Line
The 2026 TOUR Championship has a massive $40 million purse.
And the winner of the FedExCup will take home $10 million.

Patrick Cantlay also made one of the biggest moves of the week.

****A Couple of Interesting Notes
What Happened to Sungjae Im?
One thing that caught my attention was Sungjae Im.
He finished T10 at the BMW Championship, a very solid result. However, he started the BMW Championship ranked 40th in the FedExCup standings and finished the playoffs at No. 37.
Since only the Top 30 qualify for the TOUR Championship, Sungjae Im narrowly missed the final.
Even more surprisingly, this means his streak of seven consecutive TOUR Championship appearances has come to an end.
Sometimes, even a good finish isn't enough when you are chasing the Top 30.
And What About Min Woo Lee?
I also noticed Min Woo Lee on the final list.
Min Woo Lee is Australian 🇦🇺, not Korean, although he is of Korean descent and is naturally familiar to many Korean golf fans.
He finished the FedExCup playoffs at an impressive No. 21 with 1,496 points, earning his place at East Lake.
So, among the players I will be watching from an Asian perspective:

이번 BMW Championship 결과를 보면서 나도 한 가지가 궁금했다.
임성재는 BMW Championship에서 T10을 기록했는데, 왜 TOUR Championship 최종 30명 명단에는 없을까?
임성재는 BMW Championship 전 FedExCup 순위가 40위였다.
그리고 BMW에서 T10이라는 좋은 성적을 거두면서 최종 순위를 37위까지 끌어올렸다.
하지만 TOUR Championship에 출전할 수 있는 선수는 FedExCup 최종 Top 30.
결국 임성재는 좋은 경기를 하고도 마지막 3계단이 부족해서 East Lake에 가지 못하게 됐다.
더 아쉬운 것은 이번 결과로 임성재의 7년 연속 TOUR Championship 출전 기록도 끝났다는 것이다.
골프에서는 한 대회의 좋은 성적만으로는 부족할 때가 있다.

최종 30명 명단을 보다가 나도 다시 확인하게 된 선수가 있다.
바로 Min Woo Lee(이민우).

이번 FedExCup 플레이오프를 21위, 1,496포인트로 마치면서 당당하게 TOUR Championship 최종 30명에 이름을 올렸다.
이번 East Lake가 이민우에게는 더욱 특별한 무대가 될 것 같다.
