I Turned My Morning Car Into a Convertible - 오늘은 내 모닝이 오픈카였다
Today was one of those beautiful days in Jeju when you just want to open every window you have.
After several days of intense heat and rain, the weather suddenly became cool and fresh, almost like early autumn.
On my way home after golf, I was driving through one of my favorite roads in Jeju—the beautiful mountain road lined with rows of hinoki cypress trees.
There are hardly any traffic lights, and the speed limit is 60 km/h. I usually set my car to that speed and enjoy a relaxed drive.
But today, the air was just too good.
The breeze was cool, the sky was beautiful, and the air smelled so fresh.
So I suddenly thought,
“Why not turn my Morning into a convertible?” 😂
Of course, my Morning isn't actually a convertible.
I simply opened all four windows as wide as possible.
And off I went.
The cool breeze rushed through the car and blew all over me.
It felt fantastic.
I had just come from the sauna after golf, so the cool air felt even better. I could breathe in the fresh Jeju mountain air and enjoy the refreshing scent of the hinoki cypress trees.
And then I looked up at the sky.
Oh, my goodness.
The clouds were beautiful.
Every day, the sky creates a completely different painting. The clouds change their shapes with the wind, the sunlight, and the weather.
Today, the wind was just right, and the clouds were especially beautiful.
Living in Jeju, I don't think I need to own expensive paintings.
The ocean, the mountains, the sky, the clouds, and the forests are all my paintings.
Nature creates a new masterpiece for me every single day.
Of course, my homemade convertible had two little problems. 😂
The first one was my hair.
I hadn't completely dried my hair after the sauna. After driving with all four windows open, my hair eventually became completely wild.
I kept touching it every now and then and laughing to myself.
“Oh my goodness. I look like a crazy woman with completely wild hair.” 😂
Then I thought,
“If I just put a flower behind my ear, I'd look perfect.” 🌸😂
The second problem was the smell.
When you drive through the mountain roads of Jeju with all your windows open, you get to experience everything.
Including horses' manure. 🤣
But I didn't care.
Usually, I keep the windows mostly closed and turn on the air conditioner.
But on a day like today, I didn't want air-conditioning.
I wanted the real thing.
The cool breeze.
The fresh mountain air.
The hinoki cypress trees.
The beautiful clouds.
And even the occasional smell of cow manure.
It was all part of my little adventure.
And the funny thing is, I do this sometimes.
Whenever the air in Jeju is this good, I turn whatever car I'm driving into a convertible.
I don't need an expensive convertible.
Sometimes, I just need four open windows and a beautiful day.
And I don't always need to look pretty, either.
Sometimes, I just want to have fun.
I can look a little crazy, laugh at myself, mess up my hair, and enjoy the moment all by myself.
Maybe that's one of the reasons I still feel like I'm in my twenties sometimes.
A messy-haired, slightly crazy, mischievous girl—with a heart that's still in her twenties. 😂

오늘은 제주에서 정말 창문을 활짝 열고 달리고 싶은 그런 날이었다.
며칠 동안 이어졌던 무더위와 비가 지나가고, 오늘은 갑자기 가을처럼 선선하고 공기가 아주 상쾌했다.
골프를 마치고 집으로 돌아오는 길, 나는 평소처럼 제주의 아름다운 산록도로를 달리고 있었다.
도로 양옆으로 편백나무가 줄지어 서 있는 멋진 길이다.
신호등도 거의 없고 제한속도는 60km라서, 나는 보통 속도를 60km로 맞춰놓고 편안하게 달린다.
그런데 오늘은 공기가 너무 좋았다.
시원한 바람이 불고, 하늘은 아름답고, 공기는 정말 상쾌했다.
그래서 갑자기 이런 생각이 들었다.
“오늘은 내 모닝을 오픈카로 만들어볼까?” 😂
물론 내 모닝은 진짜 오픈카가 아니다.
그냥 창문 네 개를 전부 활짝 열었다.
그리고 출발했다.
시원한 바람이 차 안으로 한꺼번에 들어왔다.
정말 기분이 좋았다.
골프를 마치고 사우나까지 다녀온 직후라서 그런지 시원한 바람이 더 좋았다. 한라산 주변의 신선한 공기를 마음껏 들이마시고, 편백나무에서 느껴지는 청량한 공기도 만끽했다.
그러다 문득 하늘을 올려다보았다.
아, 정말 예뻤다.
구름이 너무 아름다웠다.
매일 같은 하늘인데도 자연은 매일 다른 그림을 만들어낸다.
바람과 햇빛과 날씨에 따라 구름의 모양이 계속 달라진다.
오늘은 바람까지 적당히 불어주어서 구름이 더욱 멋진 그림을 만들어내고 있었다.
제주에 살면 굳이 비싼 그림을 집에 소장할 필요가 없는 것 같다.
바다도 그림이고, 산도 그림이고, 하늘도 그림이고, 구름도 그림이고, 숲도 그림이다.
자연은 매일 나를 위해 새로운 명화를 하나씩 만들어준다.
그런데 내가 만든 오픈카에는 두 가지 작은 문제가 있었다. 😂
첫 번째는 내 머리였다.
사우나를 하고 머리를 완전히 말리지 않고 나왔는데, 창문 네 개를 활짝 열고 달리다 보니 머리가 완전히 산발이 되어버렸다.
나는 운전하면서 가끔 머리를 슬쩍슬쩍 만져보았다.
그리고 혼자 웃었다.
“아이고, 나 완전히 머리 산발한 미친 여자가 됐네.” 😂
그러다가 또 생각했다.
“귀에 꽃 하나만 꽂으면 완벽하겠는데?” 🌸😂
두 번째 문제는 냄새였다.
제주 산록도로에서 창문을 전부 열고 달리면 정말 모든 것을 경험할 수 있다.
가끔 소똥 냄새까지. 🤣
하지만 나는 상관없었다.
평소에는 창문을 대부분 닫고 에어컨을 켠다.
하지만 오늘 같은 날에는 에어컨 바람을 맞고 싶지 않았다.
나는 진짜 제주 공기를 느끼고 싶었다.
시원한 바람도,
신선한 산 공기도,
편백나무도,
아름다운 구름도,
그리고 가끔 만나는 말똥 냄새까지.
그 모든 것이 오늘 나의 작은 모험이었다.
그리고 사실 나는 가끔 이렇게 한다.
제주 공기가 이렇게 좋으면, 내가 무슨 차를 타고 있든 그 차를 오픈카로 만들어버린다. 😂
비싼 오픈카가 필요하지 않다.
창문 네 개와 아름다운 날씨만 있으면 된다.
그리고 나는 항상 예쁘게 보일 필요도 없다.
가끔은 그냥 재미있게 살고 싶다.
조금 미친 척도 하고, 머리도 산발로 만들고, 혼자 내 모습을 보며 웃으면서 그 순간을 즐기는 것이다.
누군가에게 예쁘게 보이기 위한 것이 아니다.
그냥 내가 재미있으면 된다.
어쩌면 그래서 나는 가끔 아직도 내가 20대인 것처럼 느끼는지도 모르겠다.
머리는 산발이고 조금 미친 것 같지만, 마음은 여전히 20대인 장난꾸러기 여자. 😂
그게 바로 나다. 🌿☁️🚗
