I was wrong about life after 60.- 나는 60 이후의 삶을 잘못 알고 있었다.
I thought my most exciting years were already behind me.
I thought life would become quieter, slower, and more repetitive.
I was wrong.
Many people around my age say the same thing.
"Every day feels the same."
To be honest, I used to feel that way too.
I just didn't say it out loud.
I thought,
"Maybe that's simply what life is like after 60."
You wake up.
You go to work.
You solve problems.
You come home.
Then tomorrow, you do it all over again.
For more than ten years, that's how my life felt.
I wasn't unhappy.
I was simply busy living.
I spent most of my adult life working, learning, and trying to become a better person.
After graduating from university, I hardly took any time off.
I worked almost every year.
I challenged myself.
I made mistakes.
I learned English.
I studied for two MBAs.
I met wonderful people.
I also experienced disappointment, conflicts, and failure.
Whenever problems appeared, I tried to understand them instead of running away.
I wanted to know why people behaved the way they did.
So I kept reading books.
I kept asking questions.
Looking back, I wasn't just building a career.
I was collecting stories without realizing it.
Then, five months ago, I started writing.
At first, I simply wanted to share a few thoughts.
I never expected writing to change the way I lived.
But it did.
Writing didn't give me a new life.
It gave me new eyes.
Before I started writing, many days looked the same.
Now I realize that no two days are ever the same.
A conversation becomes a story.
A golf round becomes a lesson.
A visitor number on my blog reminds me of an old experience.
Even a simple walk with my dogs can teach me something.
Life didn't suddenly become more interesting.
I simply started noticing it.
These days, I wake up wondering,
"What will I discover today?"
That feeling reminds me of being young.
Not because my age has changed,
but because my curiosity has returned.
If you're in your twenties, don't be afraid of getting older.
Life doesn't end at 60.
Sometimes it becomes richer because you've lived long enough to understand what really matters.
And if you're around my age and feel that every day is becoming repetitive, I want to tell you something.
Maybe your life doesn't need to change.
Maybe the way you look at your life does.
For me, writing became that turning point.
It taught me to notice the small gifts that had been there all along.
Every day still brings challenges.
I still work.
I still have problems to solve.
But now, every day also brings something new to discover.
And that has made all the difference.
I used to think excitement came from new experiences when we were young.
But now I understand something different.
Excitement doesn't come from age.
It comes from curiosity.
Curiosity belongs to anyone who keeps learning.
Maybe the greatest surprise of my sixties wasn't having more free time.
It was discovering that life still had new gifts waiting for me.
Looking back, I don't think my life after 60 became brighter by accident.
Maybe it became brighter because of all the years I spent learning, working, struggling, and growing.
The experiences I collected throughout my life were quietly waiting for this moment.
Life after 60 was not the end of my journey.
It was the moment when all my past experiences finally started to become gifts.
Today's Verdict
Growing older didn't make my world smaller.
Curiosity made it new again.
KR Summary
