Min Woo Lee Takes the Lead at the 2026 PGA TOUR Championship 1 Round— What a Start! (Aug 27-30)

2026 TOUR Championship – Round 1

The first round of the 2026 TOUR Championship is officially in the books, and what a surprise at the top!

Min Woo Lee is leading the field at 8-under par with a stunning 62.

And he did it without a single bogey.

Eight birdies.
Zero bogeys.
A career-low tying 62.

Not a bad way to make your TOUR Championship debut. 😊

Min Woo Lee, the 28-year-old Australian, entered the tournament ranked No. 21 in the FedExCup standings and is playing in the TOUR Championship for the first time.

Even more interesting?

He was playing solo for most of the round after his playing partner, J.J. Spaun, withdrew because of a shoulder injury after four holes.

And somehow, Lee just kept going.

8-under. 62. Bogey-free.

That is a serious opening round.

Meanwhile, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler opened with a solid 4-under 66.

Scheffler didn't make a single bogey either, but Lee's eight-birdie performance put him four shots ahead after Round 1.

And there is something important to remember about this year's TOUR Championship.

Unlike the old format, there are no Starting Strokes anymore.

All 30 players began the tournament at even par, and the player with the lowest 72-hole score will win both the TOUR Championship and the 2026 FedExCup.

So this leaderboard is very simple.

Min Woo Lee: -8
Scottie Scheffler: -4

Four shots between them after 18 holes.

Of course, it is only Round 1.

There are still 54 holes to play, and Scottie Scheffler is certainly not the kind of player anyone wants to see chasing them from behind.

But for today?

Min Woo Lee owns East Lake.

And I have a feeling this could become a very interesting TOUR Championship.

이민우(Min Woo Lee)가 8언더파 62타로 단독 선두!

그리고 더 놀라운 것은,

보기 없이 버디 8개.

8언더파 62타.

TOUR Championship 데뷔전에서 제대로 존재감을 보여줬다. 👏

이민우는 호주 선수로 이번 대회에 처음 출전했다. 그리고 동반 선수 J.J. Spaun이 4번 홀 이후 어깨 부상으로 기권하면서, 사실상 혼자 라운드를 이어가는 상황에서도 흔들림 없이 경기를 마쳤다.

그 결과는?

62타.

정말 대단한 1라운드였다.

그리고 세계랭킹 1위 셰플러는?

Scottie Scheffler — 4언더파 66타

셰플러 역시 보기 없이 깔끔한 라운드를 했다.

하지만 이민우의 버디 8개에는 미치지 못하며 현재 4타 차이.

올해 TOUR Championship은 예전과 달리 Starting Strokes 제도가 폐지되어 모든 선수가 이븐파에서 출발한다.

따라서 현재 순위는 아주 단순하다.

물론 아직 54홀이 남아 있다.

⛳️골프는 역시 나의 힐링 | Back on the Golf Range Again

두 달 만에 다시 시작한 나의 골프 이야기 After two months away from golf, I finally went back to the driving range today. 손가락 부상 때문에 골프채를 전혀 잡지 못했던 시간. 생각보다 길었고, 생각보다 더 아쉬웠어요. “Time flies, but I couldn’t play golf at all.” (시간은 잘 가는데, 골프를 전혀 못 쳤다니…) 연습장 앞을 지날 때마다 마음속으로 같은 말만 반복했어요. “I miss golf so much.” (골프가 너무 그립다) 그리고 오늘, 드디어 다시 시작. 문을 열고 들어서는 순간 타구 소리, 공 날아가는 풍경, 익숙한 매트 감촉까지 모든 게 그대로인데 왜 이렇게 반가운지. “It feels like home.” (마치 집에 돌아온 기분이다) 사실 조금 걱정도 됐어요. “What if I lost my swing?” (스윙 감 다 잃어버린 거 아니야?) “What if everything feels different?” (예전 같지 않으면 어떡하지?) 첫 스윙. 어색. 두 번째. 긴장. 세 번째 — 딱! 공이 시원하게 날아가는데 저도 모르게 웃음이 터졌어요. “Yes!
