How To Enjoy Golf in Jeju Without Spending a Fortune - 제주에서 큰돈 없이 골프를 즐기는 방법 ⛳

People often think golf is an expensive hobby.

And yes, if you play 18 holes at expensive golf courses every week, golf can certainly cost a lot.

But does golf really have to be that expensive?

I don't think so.

I live in Jeju, and I have found my own simple way to keep enjoying golf.

I don't need to play 18 holes every week.

I can play 9 holes once a week.

And the 9-hole course I often visit, Castlex, is not just a small or simple course.

The grass is very well maintained, just like a regular 18-hole course.

So even when I play only 9 holes, I still feel like I am having a real golf round.

And then there is my driving range.

It is an outdoor 250-meter driving range, not an indoor screen.

And the best part?

I can see Halla Mt. while I practice. 🏔️⛳

Honestly, I love that.

I can hit golf balls while looking at the sky, the green field, and Halla Mt. in the distance.

For me, that is already a pretty good golf life.

What does it cost?

My 9-hole rounds cost about:

₩160,000 a month (about $116)

My annual driving range membership costs:

₩800,000 a year (about $580)

That is about:

₩67,000 a month (about $49)

So my basic golf budget is about:

₩230,000 a month (about $167)

I usually think of it as about ₩250,000 a month (about $180), allowing a little extra for other small expenses.

Of course, golf costs are different depending on the course and location.

This is simply how I enjoy golf in Jeju.

Why do I think it is worth it?

Because golf is not just a hobby for me.

It is exercise.

I walk.

I swing.

I spend time outdoors.

I meet people.

I enjoy nature.

And I have fun.

So I don't think of the money as simply “golf expenses.”

I think of it as money spent on something I love while keeping myself active, meeting people, and enjoying my life.

Many people spend money every month on hobbies, eating out, coffee, movies, or short outings.

So why does golf have to be something only wealthy people can enjoy?

Maybe I can't play an expensive 18-hole round every week.

That's okay.

I don't have to give up golf just because I can't afford everything.

I can simply find my own way to keep playing.

Play 9.

Practice.

Keep moving.

Keep swinging. ⛳

I don't play golf to look rich.

I play golf to feel alive.

After 60, I don't want to give up the things I love just because life has changed.

I want to keep learning.

Keep moving.

Keep meeting good people.

And keep enjoying the simple things in life.

You don't have to be rich to live a rich life.

Sometimes, a rich life is simply being able to keep doing the things that make you happy.

For me, that means a 9-hole round, a 250-meter driving range, and Halla Mt. in the distance.

That's my kind of rich life. 🌿⛳🏔️

I've been lucky enough to play some of the world's most famous golf courses, including Pebble Beach Golf Links in California.

It was an unforgettable experience.

But playing Pebble Beach also taught me something:

You don't have to play the world's most expensive courses to love golf.

Today, I am just as happy playing 9 holes in Jeju, practicing at my 250-meter outdoor driving range, and looking at Hallasan.

Different golf course.
Different price.

사람들은 흔히 골프는 돈이 많이 드는 취미라고 생각한다.

물론 매주 비싼 골프장에서 18홀을 친다면 골프에 꽤 많은 돈이 들 수 있다.

그런데 정말 골프를 즐기려면 꼭 큰돈이 필요할까?

나는 그렇지 않다고 생각한다.

나는 제주에 살면서 내 방식대로 골프를 계속 즐길 수 있는 방법을 찾았다.

매주 18홀을 갈 필요는 없다.

나는 일주일에 한 번 정도 9홀을 간다.

그리고 내가 자주 가는 캐슬렉스 9홀은 단순히 작거나 평범한 골프장이 아니다.

정규 18홀 골프장처럼 잔디 관리가 잘 되어 있다.

그래서 9홀만 돌아도 실제로 제대로 라운드한 기분이 든다.

그리고 내가 이용하는 연습장도 있다.

실내 스크린 연습장이 아니라 250미터 야외 골프연습장이다.

그런데 가장 좋은 것은?

연습하면서 한라산을 볼 수 있다는 것이다. 🏔️⛳

나는 이게 정말 좋다.

하늘을 바라보고, 넓은 연습장과 푸른 잔디를 보면서 공을 치고, 멀리 한라산까지 바라본다.

솔직히 나에게는 이것만으로도 꽤 좋은 골프 생활이다.

그렇다면 실제로 비용은 얼마나 들까?

내가 가는 9홀 라운드 비용은 한 달에 약

₩160,000 (약 $116)

이다.

그리고 연습장 연회원권은

1년에 ₩800,000 (약 $580)

이다.

한 달로 계산하면 약

₩67,000 (약 $49)

정도다.

그러니까 기본적인 골프 비용은 한 달에 약

나는 걷는다.

스윙한다.

야외에서 시간을 보낸다.

사람을 만난다.

자연을 즐긴다.

그리고 즐겁다.

그래서 나는 골프에 쓰는 돈을 단순히 ‘골프 비용’​이라고만 생각하지 않는다.

내가 좋아하는 운동을 하면서 건강하게 움직이고, 사람도 만나고, 삶을 즐기는 데 쓰는 돈이라고 생각한다.

많은 사람들이 한 달에 취미생활, 외식, 커피, 영화, 짧은 나들이 등에 돈을 쓴다.

그렇다면 왜 골프만 꼭 부자들만 즐길 수 있는 취미라고 생각해야 할까?

물론 매주 비싼 18홀 라운드를 갈 수는 없을지도 모른다.

괜찮다.

모든 것을 할 수 없다고 해서 내가 좋아하는 골프를 포기할 필요는 없다.

내 형편에 맞는 방법을 찾으면 된다.

9홀을 가고,

연습하고,

계속 움직이고,

계속 스윙하면 된다. ⛳

나는 부자로 보이기 위해 골프를 치는 것이 아니다.

나는 살아 있음을 느끼기 위해 골프를 친다.

60 이후라고 해서 삶이 달라졌다는 이유로 내가 좋아하는 것들을 포기하고 싶지는 않다.

계속 배우고,

계속 움직이고,

좋은 사람들을 만나고,

삶의 소박한 즐거움을 계속 누리고 싶다.

큰돈이 없어도 풍요로운 삶을 살 수 있다.

때로는 내가 좋아하는 것을 계속할 수 있다는 것 자체가 이미 충분히 풍요로운 삶인지도 모른다.

나에게는 그것이

9홀 라운드, 250미터 야외 연습장, 그리고 멀리 보이는 한라산이다.

이것이 내가 생각하는 풍요로운 삶이다. 🌿⛳🏔️

나는 운이 좋게도 캘리포니아의 페블비치 골프 링크스(Pebble Beach Golf Links)​를 비롯해 세계적으로 유명한 골프장을 여러 곳 경험해 보았다.

페블비치에서의 라운드는 잊을 수 없는 특별한 경험이었다.

하지만 페블비치에서 골프를 쳐보면서 오히려 한 가지를 배웠다.

골프를 사랑하기 위해 세계에서 가장 비싼 골프장을 다닐 필요는 없다는 것.

지금 나는 제주에서 9홀을 돌고, 250미터 야외 연습장에서 공을 치고, 멀리 한라산을 바라보는 것만으로도 충분히 행복하다.

골프장은 다르고,
비용도 다르지만,

골프를 사랑하는 마음은 같다. ⛳
