How I’ve Been Living My Days Lately -

These days, I’m having a lot of fun just living my everyday life.

For a while, especially after COVID, I thought a lot about living a life on my own. I think many people did.

Being alone can be comfortable. You don’t have to worry about other people, and you can simply do whatever you want.

But these days, my thoughts have changed quite a bit.

The better our relationships with people are, the more enjoyable life becomes.

I don’t mean that we need to meet lots of people.

I simply mean being a little warmer and kinder to the people we happen to meet throughout the day.

Sometimes, that alone can make an ordinary day feel much better.

Something like that happened this morning.

The forecast said it was going to rain all morning, so I had decided not to go to the driving range.

But suddenly, the weather changed.

“Oh? Maybe I can go after all!”

So I quickly got ready and went to the driving range a little later than usual.

But when I arrived, there wasn’t a single spot available on the first floor.

I reserved one and was waiting for a spot when a friend said,

“Unnie, I’m leaving in about ten minutes, so you can reserve this spot.”

I said,

“No, take your time and finish practicing. I’ll practice putting while I wait.”

And it turned out to be such a great spot.

There was a nice breeze, and it was wonderfully cool. A perfect little spot. 😂

“Oh, thank you so much!”

I was already feeling good about her kindness when I noticed what she was wearing.

She had on a really pretty, cool-looking dress.

“Your outfit is so pretty! Are you going golfing today?”

“No, no. I’m just wearing it because it’s comfortable.”

“Oh, it’s really pretty. It almost looks like a dress. You could easily wear it in everyday life, too.”

Then I noticed her legs.

They were really pretty, too.

“Your legs look great, and that outfit looks so cool and comfortable. You don’t have to save it just for golf. You could wear it anywhere.”

She seemed really happy and said,

“Thank you so much.”

But I wasn’t finished yet. 😂

Then I noticed her shoes.

They were bright yellow.

“Oh, your shoes are so pretty, too!”

And then I realized that her car was yellow as well.

“Your shoes match your car perfectly! The yellow looks so good on you. Everything goes together so well.”

I was simply saying what I genuinely thought was pretty.

But I could see that she was getting happier and happier.

A little later, when she was leaving and gave me her spot, she said,

“Unnie, come over here and practice!”

Haha.

It was such a small thing, but it made me smile.

One small act of kindness creates another little moment of happiness, and somehow that happiness comes back to you.

I don’t think good relationships between people have to be complicated.

Sometimes it’s simply giving someone your spot.

Sometimes it’s saying thank you.

Sometimes it’s noticing something beautiful about someone and telling them.

Those little things can make an ordinary day feel warmer.

Of course, I still have one thing that can make me a little fired up. 😂

When I see someone wasting water in a public facility, I still have a hard time ignoring it.

If someone keeps the shower running while they aren’t even using the water, I will simply turn it off and say,

“Please turn the water off when you’re not using it.”

I don't make a big deal out of these things, but when I see someone treating a public facility carelessly, I still get a little annoyed. 😂

I guess I’m becoming more tolerant of people as I get older,

but I’m still not very tolerant when it comes to wasting something that belongs to everyone.

Maybe that’s just one of the standards I’ve developed over the years.

After golf practice, I went to the swimming pool.

After swimming and taking a shower, I was walking out when I noticed a woman’s toenails.

Her pedicure was so beautifully done.

I immediately said,

“Wow, your pedicure is so pretty!”

She smiled and said,

“Oh, thank you so much!”

Then she showed me her hands, too.

Her fingernails were painted in all kinds of pretty, colorful designs.

I thought she had probably paid to have them professionally done.

We were chatting for a moment when she suddenly looked at me and said,

“You look so capable and put-together!”

Haha. 😂

What a lovely compliment.

We simply exchanged a few nice words and went our separate ways.

It was such a small moment.

But I really like moments like that.

You don’t have to force a friendship.
You don’t have to have a deep conversation.

Sometimes you just notice something beautiful and say,

“That’s so pretty.”

And the other person naturally gives you a kind word in return.

Just like that, both people feel a little happier.

These days, I really enjoy finding these little “points of happiness” throughout my day.

Maybe that is one of the reasons I feel so lucky and happy these days.

After swimming, I was starving.

So I bought a small package of jokbal, Korean-style braised pig’s feet, and came home.

I opened a can of beer and had it with a salad for lunch.

Of course, I couldn’t eat it all by myself.

Ruby and Rich shared some with me.

Sharing something delicious with them made me happy all over again. 😂

When I think about it, my days these days are actually quite simple.

I play golf.
I swim.
I notice beautiful things.
I laugh with people.
I occasionally turn off someone’s shower water. 😂

And when I come home, Ruby and Rich are waiting for me.

I used to think happiness had to be something special.

Something big.

Something worth celebrating.

But now I think about it differently.

Having good relationships with good people,
doing the things I enjoy,
and finding little moments of happiness throughout the day.

Maybe that is simply how I’ve been living my life lately.

Today wasn’t an extraordinary day.

But I laughed quite a lot.

I said something nice to someone.

Someone was kind enough to give me a great spot at the driving range.

I practiced golf.

I went swimming.

I noticed a beautiful pedicure and shared a little moment of happiness with a stranger.

I ate something delicious.

And I shared it with Ruby and Rich.

So, once again,

Happiness: FULL BLAST! 😂❤️

KR Version
