I Have Come to See How Precious My Everyday Life Is - 나의 매일의 일상이 얼마나 귀한지 새삼 알게 된 요즘
Something a little surprising has been happening lately.
About 400 to 500 people now visit my blog every day.
A few days ago, I had more than 500 visitors in one day for the first time.
And yesterday, it happened again.
My second 500-plus day. 😊
When I started this blog, I never expected anything like this.
I simply wanted to write about my life.
My life in Jeju.
Golf.
Swimming.
My dogs, Ruby and Rich.
Small things that happen during my day.
And, of course, my thoughts about turning 60.
At first, it was just like keeping a diary.
But little by little, people started coming.
People from Korea, the United States, France, Singapore, the UK, and other places have been reading my stories.
Sometimes I think,
“So, the ordinary life I am living every day has become a story that someone wants to read.”
That thought makes me very grateful.
When I turned 60, I thought life might become a little boring.
I had already tried most of the things I wanted to try.
I have never been a person with huge ambitions. 😊
So I thought I would simply live peacefully, enjoy my days, and keep going for the rest of my life.
Then something unexpected happened.
My blog.
As people started reading about my everyday life, I began to look at my own life more carefully, too.
Waking up in the morning.
Going to practice golf.
Swimming.
Walking around my neighborhood in Jeju.
Coming home and seeing Ruby and Rich.
Sitting quietly in the evening after a normal day.
These are all very ordinary things.
But lately, I have started to feel that each one of these ordinary days is precious.
My life does not have to be special to be precious.
Being able to live an ordinary, peaceful life is already a great gift.
So yes, I am happy when my blog gets more visitors.
But I think I have received an even bigger gift.
I have discovered again how precious the life I already have is.
Turning 60 and becoming a little well-known will not suddenly change my life. 😊
I will still live here in Jeju.
I will still play golf, swim, eat good food, spend time with Ruby and Rich, and laugh about silly little things.
But perhaps I will look at those ordinary moments a little differently now.
I may stop and think,
“Ah, this was a really good day, too.”
And today, I am writing another little story.
If someone reads it, I am grateful.
Even if no one reads it, I will still write.
Because now I know something.
My ordinary everyday life is much more precious than I once realized.
And these days, I think I quite like being 60.
So today, too,
I am simply living my own life to the fullest. 🌱
KR Version
