Maybe My Best Days Are Now.

Maybe the best part of my life is happening now.

When I was younger, I had quite a few romantic ideas about marriage.

Living with someone,
supporting each other, loving each other,
and building a life together.

I think I once believed that was what a complete life was supposed to look like.

I also spent quite a bit of time wondering,

“Who is my other half?”

Looking back, I realize I wandered emotionally more than I knew at the time.

But now, when I look back,
I sometimes think my father understood me better than I understood myself.

My father passed away last year at the age of 90.

When I was studying in the United States,
I remember having one phone conversation with him.

My father was a very quiet man.
He wasn't someone who talked much.

So when I called home,
I usually chatted away with my mother,
while my father quietly listened nearby.

But that day, my father said something to me.

“My daughter, I think you shouldn't get married.
But you should definitely fall in love.”

At the time, I don't think I fully understood what he meant.

But now, after turning 60,
I sometimes think back to those words.

Maybe my father knew exactly what kind of person I was.

Someone who was meant to build her own life
rather than depend on someone else.

Someone who could live happily on her own,
but didn't need to give up love, romance, or excitement.

Looking back,
perhaps those few words from my father
were actually a surprisingly accurate answer about my life.

And as I have lived through the years,
I slowly came to understand something.

My life was actually quite good on my own.

I had no major financial problems,
and I was able to work, learn,
and live the way I wanted.

And now, after 60, I have realized something even more clearly.

Maybe I am most myself when I am on my own.

I decide how to spend my time.
I create my own space.
I choose what I want to do.
I don't have to change myself just to fit someone else's expectations.

Most importantly,

I feel peaceful.

When I was younger, being alone might have felt
like something was missing.

But I don't see it that way anymore.

Being alone doesn't mean
that no one is there.

Sometimes it simply means

I am comfortable being with myself.

Of course, life after 60 can look different.

A spouse may pass away first.
Children may become independent.
Retirement may leave us with more time alone.

For many people, these changes can feel lonely or frightening.

But I see them a little differently.

I already know the comfort and freedom
of living my own life.

And I am grateful for that.

The wandering I did when I was young was necessary.
The years when I worked hard were necessary.
Even my romantic ideas about marriage were necessary.

Without those years,
I wouldn't be who I am today.

Looking back,
I don't think I lost myself.

Maybe I simply put myself
in a deep drawer of life for a while.

And now, after 60,
I'm opening those drawers one by one.

“Oh, this is who I used to be.”

“I used to love this, too.”

“That's right. I was always curious about things like this.”

The little girl who carried a camera everywhere,
the woman who worked hard,
the woman who studied and learned golf,
and the woman who now grows vegetables and writes—

They were all connected.

They were all me.

But lately, something even more interesting has been happening.

Life has started to feel exciting again.

After COVID, I think I lived a very quiet life for quite a while.

I took care of my life,
did what I needed to do,
avoided unnecessary stress,
and simply enjoyed my peaceful days.

And that was a good life, too.

But these days,
I seem to notice new people more.

New encounters are fun.

Even the people I have known for a long time
seem to have new sides that I hadn't noticed before.

Wherever I go,
I sometimes find myself thinking,

“Oh… what a wonderful person.”

I hadn't felt this way for quite some time.

So today, while taking a walk,
a thought suddenly came to me.

“Maybe the best part of my life isn't already behind me.”

Maybe there is still
a lot of good time left.

And once I realized that,
I suddenly wanted to live each day more fully.

Even when nobody is watching.

Not because I need to show anything to anyone.

Simply because

I want to enjoy my own life.

When I was young,
I worked hard to build my future.

But now, things feel a little different.

Now I look back at the years I've lived
and discover the parts of myself
that were quietly hiding inside them.

At the same time that I am discovering the world,

I am discovering myself.

And then I realized something else.

That playful little troublemaker I was as a child
is probably still inside me. 😂

Curious about everything.
Always wanting to try something new.
Never quite able to walk past something interesting.

Maybe I've been living a little too quietly for too long.

So now,
I think it's time to let that little girl
come back on stage.

It's time to let all that playful energy out. 😂

Golf.
Gardening.
Writing.
Meeting new people.
Learning whatever makes me curious.
Enjoying whatever makes me smile.

Not on someone else's stage.

On my own stage.

I used to think someone else
was needed to complete my life.

But now I know.

I was already complete.

And being alone doesn't mean being lonely.

I can be alone
and still be free, peaceful, and happy.

Perhaps that is one of the most unexpected gifts
I have received after 60.

And perhaps there is another gift:

I discovered that there is still so much good time left in my life.

That makes me excited. 😊

Maybe this is the time
to finally live more fully as myself.

I thought my best days were behind me.

Maybe I was wrong.

Maybe I'm living them now. ❤️

Age goes up.

Curiosity stays.

The brain keeps swinging. ⛳🧠

And now…

Showtime on My Real Stage — 60+. 🎭

Maybe the real show
is just beginning.

And honestly,
I'm enjoying the discovery.
😊

KR Version

I thought my best days were behind me.

Maybe I was wrong.

Maybe I'm living them now. ❤️

The brain keeps swinging. ⛳🧠

Showtime on My Real Stage — 60+. 🎭

And honestly,
I'm enjoying the discovery.

Palm Springs, California — LPGA Golf Program Training
I was already curious, adventurous, and always somehow in the middle. 😂⛳

Maybe I didn't become a different person.
Maybe I simply found my way back to her.
