The 3:30 a.m. Wake-Up Call I Once Found Annoying -
My alarm is set for 4:30 a.m.
But Ruby and Rich don't seem to care.
They often start their day one hour early.
3:30 a.m.
I can hear them moving around, asking me to get up.
“Mom, let's go for a walk!”
And I mumble from under my blanket,
“Not yet. It's too early. We still have one more hour.”
😂
Honestly, sometimes I get annoyed.
Why do they have to wake me up at 3:30 when my alarm is set for 4:30?
It's still dark outside, and I want to sleep for another hour.
So I go back to sleep, while Ruby and Rich wait impatiently for their morning walk.
But today, I suddenly thought about it differently.
They are already ten years old.
And thankfully, they have grown old without any serious illness so far.
They still eat well.
They still sleep well.
They still have plenty of energy.
And most importantly, they still get excited about going for a morning walk.
At 3:30 in the morning.
😂🐶🐶
Suddenly, the thing that sometimes annoys me became something I felt grateful for.
That 3:30 a.m. wake-up call is actually a sign that they are still healthy and full of life.
Maybe one day, I will miss it.
One day, I may wish I could hear those little noises again.
So today I smiled and thought,
“You two are still so full of energy. Thank you.”
Of course, tomorrow morning, if they wake me up at 3:30 again, I will probably still say,
“No. One more hour.” 😂
Some things don't have to change just because we understand how precious they are.
Ruby and Rich have been with me for ten years now.
I know that as they get older, there may be more visits to the vet and more things for me to worry about.
But until the day they cross the rainbow bridge, I am the person responsible for these two little lives.
And maybe that is one of the reasons I keep trying to make myself stronger—both physically and mentally.
For now, I am simply grateful.
Grateful that they are still here.
Grateful that they are healthy.
And even grateful for the little annoyance that wakes me up at 3:30 in the morning.
Because sometimes,
the things that annoy us today become the things we miss the most tomorrow.
A Little English Note
“One more hour.”
“They are full of life.”
“I may miss it someday.”
And my favorite sentence today:
“Sometimes, the things that annoy us today become the things we miss the most tomorrow.”
Maybe that is another little lesson life is quietly teaching me. 🤍
KR Version
Sometimes, the things that annoy us today become the things we miss the most tomorrow.
