A Golf Group Like This? I’m In. ๐- ์ด๋ฐ ๊ณจํ ๋ชจ์์ด๋ผ๋ฉด ๋๋ ์ข๋ค ใ ใ

For a while, I actually preferred playing golf with people I didn’t know to joining a regular golf group.
Looking back, the reason was pretty simple.
We played golf, enjoyed the round, and when the 18 holes were over, we said goodbye and went back to our own lives.
There was no need to make another appointment.
No need to keep matching everyone’s schedules.
No need to take care of anyone.
Most importantly, I could play golf when it was convenient for me.
I used to think I simply liked it because it was easy and comfortable.
But now I think there was something more.
I liked the freedom and the space.
I like people.
And I certainly enjoy playing golf with good people.
But liking someone doesn’t mean I have to be deeply involved in their life.
And enjoying a golf group doesn’t mean I have to take responsibility for everything the group does.
As I get older, I’ve come to appreciate something more and more:
People need space, too.
We can enjoy being together, help each other when needed, and then return to our own lives.
Maybe I have always been more comfortable with that kind of relationship than I realized.
Close enough to enjoy,
far enough to breathe.
These days, I think a peaceful life is not necessarily about having fewer people around me.
It is about having the right distance with the people I care about.
And golf is the same.
I love golf.
I enjoy playing with good golfers.
I enjoy being part of a group sometimes.
But golf doesn’t have to take over my life.
Golf is part of my life,
not my whole life.
And people are the same.
I can care about them, enjoy their company,
and still keep a little space for myself.
But something has changed recently.
These days, I’m actually enjoying being part of a golf group much more.
I’m even helping as one of the group leaders. ๐
And interestingly, I think I’ve found the kind of group that suits me.
We joke around on the golf course.
We enjoy a good round together.
We help each other when someone needs it.
But nobody needs to know everything about everyone.
Nobody has to be involved in everyone else’s life.
We can laugh together during the round,
and then go back to our own lives afterward.
That feels very comfortable to me.
Maybe this is what I was looking for all along.
Not less connection,
but healthier connection.
Not being distant from people,
but being close without losing our own space.
I think I’m learning that the right kind of relationship doesn’t make me feel trapped.
It makes me feel free to be myself.
And maybe that is why I’m enjoying my golf group these days.
We play golf.
We laugh.
We tease each other.
We help each other.
And when the day is over,
we respect each other’s lives and go home.
Close enough to enjoy,
far enough to breathe.
Maybe that is one of the things I’m learning about life after 60.
Enjoy the connection.
Respect the distance.
Protect your peace. ๐ฟ⛳
Maybe this kind of relationship works especially well for me.
We met through golf, so golf is our common ground.
We laugh, joke around, play our best, and sometimes help each other.
But we don’t need to know every detail of each other’s lives.
We each have our own families, work, routines, and private time.
And somehow, that makes the relationship even more comfortable.
Maybe if we had been childhood friends from the same hometown, it might be a little different. ๐
We might know too much about each other!
But this group feels just right for me.
Good people.
Good golf.
Good laughs.
And just the right amount of space.
I think I finally found the kind of small group I was looking for.
