My Garden Success Comes from 10 Years of Trial and Error -

When I first started growing vegetables, I thought it would be very simple.

I thought that if I had some soil and planted some seeds, the vegetables would just grow by themselves.

But I was wrong.

At first, I did not even know why my vegetables were not growing well.

So I bought a small hand shovel.

As I dug deeper into the soil, I learned something important.

Vegetables need more than just seeds and soil. The soil also needs to breathe.

I had to dig the soil deeper, make it softer, and give the roots enough space to grow.

Then I bought a bag of organic fertilizer.

I do not use a lot at once. I spread a little at a time.

Water is also very important.

Especially when the weather is hot and dry, vegetables can taste different if they do not get enough water.

Leafy vegetables can even become bitter when they do not get enough water.

So I usually water my garden once or twice a day, and I give it a good, deep watering.

And there is one more thing.

Thinning.

At first, I thought that if I planted more seeds, I would get more vegetables.

But if the vegetables grow too close together and I do not thin them out, they cannot grow properly.

They compete for space and light, and they become thin and tall, almost like bean sprouts.

And later, there is not much to eat.

So now, even when it feels a little wasteful, I thin them out.

I eat the young cabbage and radish greens I remove, and the ones that remain get more space to grow properly.

This summer, I had another failure.

It was extremely hot and dry, and we did not get enough rain, so I left my garden empty for a while.

I planted some young radish greens once, but they almost melted away.

So this fall, I kept watching the weather.

As soon as the temperature dropped below 29°C, I planted the seeds.

This time, it worked.

Then we had some rain, and suddenly my baby cabbages grew so thick that now I have to eat them regularly just to give the remaining plants enough space.

When I look back, I realize that my garden did not become what it is today overnight.

For ten years, I have had many failures and many trial-and-error moments.

I was someone who once thought that planting seeds was enough.

Then I learned how to dig the soil deeper.

I learned how to use fertilizer little by little.

I learned how to water properly.

I learned to wait for the right time to plant.

And I learned that sometimes, you have to remove a few plants so the others can grow better.

So these days, when I see my vegetables growing well, I feel a little proud.

It is not because I was good at gardening from the beginning.
It is because I learned little by little through many failures.

I think my garden's success contains ten years of trial and error.

And next year, I will probably plant too many seeds again.

That's okay.

I can always eat the extra ones as I thin them out.

KR Version
