My Happy Autumn Is Almost Complete -
Today, I finally fixed something that had been bothering me for years.
It was the wall above my bed.
I had tried different things before, including a fabric picture that never quite looked right. For two or three years, I simply left it there, even though it bothered me whenever I looked at it.
Today, I decided to do something about it.
I thought it would be a simple job. Just attach some palm boards to the wall, and I would be done.
Of course, things didn't go as planned.
The wallpaper behind the boards was poorly attached, so I had to remove it. Then I discovered that the palm boards were slightly too small.
Oh, no!
Luckily, I had kept some leftover wallpaper. It turned out to be exactly what I needed to cover the missing part.
After measuring, adjusting, and pinning everything into place, I finally finished the job.
The result wasn't absolutely perfect. The boards above my bed are a little crooked. Funny enough, I had done a better job with the much larger boards in my living room!
Perhaps I was too confident this time. 😂💖
Still, it looks good enough, and I am happy with it.
For just a small amount of money, I made my bedroom feel a little more like my own. And best of all, I finally got rid of something that had been bothering me for years.
Sometimes, finishing a small job brings more satisfaction than buying something new.
The Happiness of Doing Something with My Own Hands
Sometimes, I forget how precious each day is.
But whenever I do some physical work around my home, I feel refreshed. There is a quiet sense of accomplishment, and somehow, I gain a little more confidence in myself.
That feeling gives me new energy to face another day.
I spend much of my time at home with Ruby and Rich. So, keeping my house comfortable and my garden tidy means a lot to me.
When I finish a job, whether it is fixing something inside the house or cleaning up the garden, I feel genuinely happy.
Perhaps it is because I can see the results of my own efforts right in front of me.
I don't need to accomplish something extraordinary every day.
Sometimes, making my little corner of the world a better place is more than enough.
Everyone Has Their Own Happy Place
There was one more little change today.
I took the Mickey Mouse fabric picture that used to hang above my bed and put it up near the entrance instead. I had thought about putting it away, but then I realized that its yellow details might look lovely when my yellow chrysanthemums bloom.
Why not give it a new home?
As I was writing this post, I took a picture of Rich.
He was lying comfortably near the entrance, looking out toward the garden. Even after coming inside, he prefers that spot to his own bed.
I guess he likes being indoors while still being able to watch the world outside.
I enjoy making our home more comfortable, while Rich enjoys resting in his favorite spot and watching the garden.
We live in the same house, but we find happiness in different ways.
And that's perfectly fine.
Perhaps a happy home is not a place where everything has to be perfect. It is a place where everyone can find their own comfortable corner.
Waiting for My Yellow Chrysanthemums
Now, there is only one thing left to complete my happy autumn.
My yellow chrysanthemums.
The flower buds are already there, and I find myself checking them with growing excitement.
Once they bloom, I think my autumn will be complete.
A tidier bedroom, a home I enjoy, a garden I have cared for, and Ruby and Rich spending their days in their own happy places.
What more could I ask for?
I don't need big plans or big money to make every day meaningful.
Sometimes, happiness begins with fixing one little thing that has bothered me for years. Sometimes, it comes from watching my dog sleep peacefully by the door. And sometimes, it is simply the excitement of waiting for flowers to bloom.
Tomorrow is another day, and I already have a little more energy to welcome it.
Now, dear yellow chrysanthemums, please hurry up!
Your owner is waiting.😂💖
KR Version
