Small Changes in My Life Over the Past Year - 최근 1년간 나의 소소한 변화

Over the past year, I have noticed a few small changes in myself.

Until last year, I rarely kept pain relief patches at home.

Of course, I sometimes bought them when I really needed one. But I never thought about keeping them in the house.

These days, however, I feel a little uncomfortable when I run out of them. It is almost like not having Tylenol in my medicine cabinet.

So whenever I go to the pharmacy, I usually buy some patches to keep at home.

I never paid much attention to these patches before. I thought I could simply wait a few days whenever my muscles felt tired or sore.

But one day, I tried wearing a patch for a day after my muscles became tired.

To my surprise, I felt much better the next day!

Since then, I have changed my habit. Instead of putting up with muscle pain for several days, I use a patch when I need one.

I guess I am learning to take better care of myself.

My Body Needs a Little Rest, Too

Recently, my golf shots were not going well, so I went to the driving range almost every day. I also went swimming regularly to loosen up my muscles.

Of course, I tried to be careful with my body.

Sometimes, I spent about 20 minutes doing relaxed practice swings before hitting any balls. I tried not to push myself too hard.

Still, even when I am careful, tiredness seems to build up.

This morning, my body felt especially tired.

My dogs started barking at 4 a.m., asking me to take them for a walk.

I stayed in bed and tried to explain the situation.

“Guys, Mom is really tired today. Can I please sleep a little longer?”

But Ruby was not ready to give up.

At around 5:30 a.m., she started barking again. I could almost hear her saying:

“Mom, please! Let's go!”

And guess what?

I gave in.

“Okay, okay! I hear you. Let's go! haha.”

Somehow, I jumped out of bed.

If I didn't have Ruby and Rich, I might have stayed in bed until noon without even eating breakfast! haha.

We took a very easy 30-minute walk and came home.

But then I noticed that the back of my left shoulder was aching.

So it was time for another pain relief patch.

Putting a patch on the back of my own shoulder was not easy.

I twisted my arm this way, then that way.

“A little more… just a little more…”

Finally, success! haha.

Maybe my body is reacting to the weather. Rain is expected tomorrow, and perhaps I am becoming one of those people who can feel a change in the weather.

Well, I guess I cannot help that. haha.

And Then, My Clothesline Almost Gave Up!

That was not the end of my little adventures.

Rain is expected this weekend, and the weather is getting colder. So yesterday, I washed all my cool summer bedding and blankets.

I have a long clothesline in my yard, so I have never bought a clothes dryer, even though modern dryers seem so convenient.

Why buy one when I can hang everything outside? haha.

Yesterday, I went to the driving range and then to the swimming pool.

After I came home, I went to the side yard to hang up my swimsuit.

And then…

“Oh, wait a minute!”

Oh, no!

The long clothesline I had recently installed could not hold the weight of all the wet bedding.

The line had come loose, and all the laundry was lying on the ground!

I probably had not tightened the screws enough when I installed it. haha.

Luckily, I discovered the problem when I went outside to hang up my swimsuit. Otherwise, the laundry might have stayed on the ground all night!

I quickly set up another drying rack in the yard and moved some of the laundry.

As evening approached, the yard began to get dark. I had to hurry.

I searched for some extra screws I had saved from the earlier installation and took out my tools again.

My fingers were hurting, but I kept trying.

Tighten this.

Adjust that.

Try again.

Finally, I brought the clothesline back to life!

Honestly, why does life keep giving me so many little jobs to do? hahaha.

I play golf.

I go swimming.

I walk my dogs.

I wash my bedding.

I put on pain relief patches.

And now, I repair clotheslines, too!

Small Things Make Up My Life

When I think about it, yesterday and today were nothing special.

But these little things are what make up my everyday life.

If I have changed over the past year, perhaps it is because I have learned to take a little better care of myself.

Instead of always putting up with pain, I use a patch when I need one.

When I feel tired, I try to rest.

And when my body feels good, I enjoy golf and swimming.

Perhaps this is one of the little lessons we learn as we grow older.

Take care of my body.

Enjoy the things I can still do.

And deal with whatever small problems come my way.

I never know what tomorrow will bring.

But one thing is certain.

As long as Ruby and Rich are around, sleeping in until noon will probably remain a very difficult dream! hahaha.

KR Version
