I have always thought Sung Hyun Park was a special golfer.

There is something about her that is hard to explain.

Maybe it is her powerful swing.
Maybe it is the way she walks onto the tee.
Or maybe it is simply the quiet confidence she carries with her.

She has a kind of charisma that naturally draws people in.

There was a time when Sung Hyun Park seemed almost unstoppable.

She won seven times on the KLPGA Tour in 2016.

Then, in her first full LPGA season in 2017, she won the U.S. Women's Open, became Rookie of the Year, and shared the Player of the Year award.

She went on to win another major championship at the 2018 KPMG Women's PGA Championship and reached World No. 1.

That was the Sung Hyun Park I remember.

Powerful. Fearless.
And somehow, very cool.

Golf, however, is a long journey.

Even great players go through difficult stretches. Sometimes the swing disappears. Sometimes confidence becomes quiet. And sometimes a golfer simply has to find her way back.

Now she is playing in the 2026 Aramco Korea Championship.

I don't expect anything from her.

I just want to see that golfer again.

The golfer who stands on the tee, takes a deep breath, and swings without fear.

Sung Hyun, show us your golf again.

Just one more time.

Golf first. Life second.

And maybe, this week, we will see a little bit of that old magic again. ⛳

In her first LPGA season, she won the U.S. Women's Open and became both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year.

2018 — 3 wins

  • Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic

  • KPMG Women's PGA Championship

  • Indy Women in Tech Championship

The KPMG Women's PGA Championship was her second major victory.

2019 — 1 win

  • HSBC Women's World Championship

She also reached World No. 1 and spent a total of 19 weeks at the top of the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

That is the golfer I still remember.

And that is why, whenever I see Sung Hyun Park tee it up again, I always hope to see a little bit of that fearless golfer from those years.

Maybe this week will be one of those weeks.

나는 박성현이라는 선수를 늘 특별하게 생각해왔다.

뭐라고 정확하게 설명하기는 어렵지만, 사람을 끌어당기는 무언가가 있다.

강력한 스윙 때문일 수도 있고,
티잉 그라운드에 올라서는 모습 때문일 수도 있다.

아니면 그냥 자신이 하는 골프에 대한 조용한 자신감 때문일지도 모른다.

박성현에게는 사람의 시선을 자연스럽게 끌어당기는 카리스마가 있다.

한때 박성현은 정말 거침이 없어 보였다.

2016년 KLPGA에서 무려 7승을 거두었다.

그리고 2017년 LPGA 첫 풀 시즌에서 US Women's Open을 우승했고, 신인왕과 올해의 선수상을 동시에 차지했다.

2018년에는 또 하나의 메이저 대회인 KPMG Women's PGA Championship에서 우승했고, 세계랭킹 1위에도 올랐다.

내가 기억하는 박성현은 바로 그런 선수다.

강력하고, 두려움이 없고,
그리고 어쩐지 정말 멋있었다.

하지만 골프는 긴 여정이다.

아무리 훌륭한 선수도 힘든 시간을 지나간다.

스윙이 사라지기도 하고,
자신감이 조용해지기도 한다.

그리고 때로는 자기 골프를 다시 찾아가는 시간이 필요하다.

이번 주 박성현은 2026 Aramco Korea Championship에 출전한다.

나는 그녀에게 무엇을 기대하는 것은 아니다.

그저 그 선수를 다시 한번 보고 싶다.

티잉 그라운드에 올라서서 깊게 숨을 한 번 쉬고,
두려움 없이 자신의 스윙을 하는 그 선수.

박성현, 이번에는 당신의 골프를 한번 보여줘.

딱 한 번만이라도.

그리고 어쩌면 이번 주에는

어쩌면 이번 주가 그런 주가 될지도 모르겠다.

⛳️골프는 역시 나의 힐링 | Back on the Golf Range Again

두 달 만에 다시 시작한 나의 골프 이야기 After two months away from golf, I finally went back to the driving range today. 손가락 부상 때문에 골프채를 전혀 잡지 못했던 시간. 생각보다 길었고, 생각보다 더 아쉬웠어요. “Time flies, but I couldn’t play golf at all.” (시간은 잘 가는데, 골프를 전혀 못 쳤다니…) 연습장 앞을 지날 때마다 마음속으로 같은 말만 반복했어요. “I miss golf so much.” (골프가 너무 그립다) 그리고 오늘, 드디어 다시 시작. 문을 열고 들어서는 순간 타구 소리, 공 날아가는 풍경, 익숙한 매트 감촉까지 모든 게 그대로인데 왜 이렇게 반가운지. “It feels like home.” (마치 집에 돌아온 기분이다) 사실 조금 걱정도 됐어요. “What if I lost my swing?” (스윙 감 다 잃어버린 거 아니야?) “What if everything feels different?” (예전 같지 않으면 어떡하지?) 첫 스윙. 어색. 두 번째. 긴장. 세 번째 — 딱! 공이 시원하게 날아가는데 저도 모르게 웃음이 터졌어요. “Yes!
