The Happiness of Finding One Missing Chopstick After Two Weeks - 2

One of my chopsticks had been missing for almost two weeks.

I looked everywhere in the kitchen.

I checked the drawers, the dining table, and all the little corners where I might have accidentally put it.

Nothing.

I started wondering,

“Where on earth did you go?
Did you fly up to the sky, or did the ground swallow you?”
😄

The problem was that these chopsticks were part of a matching set.

Only one chopstick was missing.

Every time I ate, I had to use a different chopstick with it.

It was such a small thing, but it kept bothering me.

At one point, I even thought,

“Maybe I should just throw the whole set away and buy a new one.”

Then today, something unexpected happened.

I was walking past a corner of my vegetable garden when I suddenly noticed something.

Wait… is that it?

It was my missing chopstick!

I think I must have accidentally thrown it into the garden together with a huge pile of watermelon peels when I bought two watermelons and cut them up for the refrigerator.

The watermelon peels slowly dried up under the strong sunlight.

And once they disappeared, my missing chopstick finally appeared.

The funny thing is, I walk past that exact spot all the time.

Why did I find it only today?

I was genuinely happy.

I looked at it and thought,

“Oh, there you are!” 😄

Of course, I didn't put it straight back on the table.

After bringing it inside, I cleaned and sanitized it thoroughly, then let it dry completely.

Only then was it ready to return to the table.

And the best part?

Now my chopsticks were a matching pair again.

It was just one chopstick.

But finding it made me surprisingly happy.

Something similar happened to me before.

I once lost my favorite little fruit knife.

After searching for it and eventually giving up, I found it in the same corner of my vegetable garden.

It was another tiny moment of genuine happiness.

It makes me think about how strange happiness can be.

Sometimes we look for happiness in big things.

But today, I found happiness in one missing chopstick.

I found happiness in getting my favorite fruit knife back, too.

Maybe as I get older, I am simply becoming better at noticing these little moments.

Sometimes happiness comes from getting something new.

But sometimes, happiness comes from finding something we thought we had lost.

Today, I found one little chopstick.

I cleaned it, sanitized it, dried it, and put it back with its partner.

Now the pair is complete again.

That was enough to make me happy today. 🥢🥢

KR Version
