The Tour Championship Is Over. So Why Is PGA Golf Still On?
A few days ago, I thought,
“Okay. The PGA season must be pretty much over now.”
For me, the Tour Championship felt like the end of the PGA season.
But today, I turned on the TV.
And there it was.
More PGA golf.
“Wait… it’s still going on?”
I have watched golf for quite a long time, but I honestly wondered why.
So I looked it up.
And then I discovered something I didn’t know.
The FedExCup Fall.
The Tour Championship Is Over. So What Comes Next?
The main PGA TOUR season moves through the Regular Season, the FedExCup Playoffs, and finally the Tour Championship.
The FedExCup champion is crowned at the Tour Championship.
So it is easy to think,
“Okay, that’s it. The PGA season is over.”
But it isn’t.
There is another part of the season:
the FedExCup Fall.
In 2026, there are seven official PGA TOUR events in the FedExCup Fall. These events give players an opportunity to improve their priority ranking and secure additional playing opportunities for the 2027 season.
🍂 The 2026 FedExCup Fall Schedule
September 14–20
Biltmore Championship Asheville
📍 Asheville, North Carolina
October 1–4
Bank of Utah Championship
📍 Ivins, Utah
October 8–11
Baycurrent Classic
📍 Yokohama, Japan
October 22–25
Butterfield Bermuda Championship
📍 Bermuda
October 29–November 1
VidantaWorld Mexico Open
📍 Vallarta, Mexico
November 5–8
World Wide Technology Championship
📍 Los Cabos, Mexico
November 12–15
Good Good Championship
📍 Austin, Texas
November 19–22
The RSM Classic
📍 St. Simons Island, Georgia
Wait.
I counted eight. 😄
Here comes the interesting part.
The PGA TOUR's overall Fall calendar also includes the Presidents Cup.
But the Presidents Cup is different.
It is a team competition between the United States and the International Team, not one of the seven official FedExCup Fall events that award FedExCup points. That is why the current FedExCup Fall standings describe the Fall as seven official PGA TOUR events.
And the Tournament I’m Watching Today
It is the Bank of Utah Championship.
It is being played October 1–4 at Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah.
Players are competing for 500 FedExCup points and a share of a $6 million purse.
It is obviously different from the Tour Championship.
The Tour Championship decides the FedExCup champion.
The Fall events are more about what comes next.
For the players, their results can affect their position and playing opportunities for the following season.
So this golf still matters.
I Thought the Golf Was Over
I honestly thought that once the Tour Championship was over,
PGA golf was basically finished for the year.
I was wrong.
The big final event can be over,
but some players are still out there playing.
And for them, those rounds can be important for the season ahead.
Knowing that makes me look at this autumn golf a little differently.
Maybe the end of one big chapter
doesn't always mean everything is over.
Sometimes, something new begins right after it.
I have been thinking about that more since turning 60.
Maybe life is like that, too.
You finish one big chapter,
but you still have all the experience you've collected.
You still have your own wisdom muscles.
And you can use them to find another kind of fun.
I turned on the TV today and discovered something I didn't know:
the FedExCup Fall.
The more I watch golf,
the more I realize there is always something else going on.
And maybe life is the same.
The Tour Championship is over.
But the game goes on.
KR Version
FedExCup Fall
Tour Championship
PGA TOUR
Regular Season → FedExCup Playoffs → Tour Championship
🍂 2026 FedExCup Fall 일정

Biltmore Championship Asheville
📍 Asheville, North Carolina
Bank of Utah Championship
📍 Ivins, Utah
Baycurrent Classic

VidantaWorld Mexico Open

World Wide Technology Championship

바로 Bank of Utah Championship이다.
Tour Championship
FedExCup Fall.
Tour Championship is over.
But the game goes on.
